Bedford S-Type Lorry

On behalf of the owner we are pleased to offer for sale this exceptionally low mileage Bedford S-Type. With only 8000 miles recorded it has to be one of the lowest mileage classic commercials out there.

Supplied new in 1955 to the Auxiliary Fire Service it spent 47 years with the Army. It was released in 2002 as a chassis cab with the current flatbed being fitted shortly afterwards. As most military Bedford’s were this is fitted with the six cylinder petrol engine.

The lorry is in generally good condition having been restored by the vendors when they originally purchased it in 2006. It has been unused for the last couple of years but runs well and can be driven around the yard, before use on the road the vendor recommends the brakes should be given the once over and adjusted as necessary. The only major work required to use the lorry is replacement of the rear flat bed timbers.

As a regular on Britains roads from the 1950s to 1970s, the Bedford S-Type is an appreciating classic commercial. Being built in 1955 it has the benefits of not requiring a MOT and can be driven on a standard car license (please check all the legal requirements.) This tidy example offers a great vehicle to enter the hobby and could quite quickly be back on the road either to be kept as is or to receive a full rolling restoration while enjoying the vehicle. Spare parts are still readily available however we expect work on this one to require more time than expense.
