4" Little Samson Project
On behalf of the owners we are pleased to offer for sale this well built Little Samson Steam Tractor, a well advance project the engine steams well and only requires tinwork, some final plumbing and paintwork to complete. If desired we would be happy to complete the engine in our workshop to the new owners specification and deliver an as new, ready to rally engine by the end of the year.
As you can see and hear in the videos this Little Samson has been built to a high standard and runs particularly nicely with a nice crisp even exhaust beat and no untoward noises from the well-finished motion work. The engine would suit someone well who skills lie in sheet metal work as the bulk of the work to complete is the manufacture of the gear guards, motion covers and boiler cladding tins. Other parts to complete not currently fitted to the engine are show in the pictures.
The CE marked Bell Boiler is in virtually new condition having only been steamed a handful of times for testing purposes and drained down in between. The engine was hydraulic tested in 2019 and steam tested in 2021 by an independent boiler inspector. Water feed is through a crankshaft driven pump and steam injector (to be plumbed in)
As noted above the engine is being sold as-is but we would be happy to undertake the completion of the project here at Legacy for the new owner. We estimate around £5000 for the works which includes full painting and 2-colour lining using Craftmaster paints, motion covers and flywheel disc (often omitted on Little Samsons models) and fresh hydraulic and steam test by an independent boiler inspector. We would also recommend replacement of the bolted on tyres with vulcanised, although not necessary would finish the engine off nicely.
For further information and to arrange a viewing please do not hesitate to contact us. Please note due to insurance purposes and the engine not currently having a valid steam test we cannot show the engine in steam however we would be happy to run it on compressed air for viewings and we have plenty of videos of it in steam.
