4" Garrett T.E.

If you have been keeping an eye our website over the last couple of months you wouldn’t believe me if I told you Garretts are a lot less common than Burrells and Fosters, well they are just everywhere else apart from our yard!

Here we have another example of the popular 4” Garrett 7NHP Traction engine. This one is an older model but with plenty of life in her and that ticks all the boxes, vulcanised rubber tyres, road registered, pleasant to drive and it comes fully boiler tested including the ten-year hydraulic by an independent boiler inspector.

Build quality throughout is to a good standard, she ticks over smoothly and is generally a well sorted engine that is a pleasure to steam up and go for a trundle on. Mechanically the only criticism we could make is the gears ring a bit more than on other some other engines as can be heard in the videos. Boiler wise she steams well and is easy to get along with, water feed is through a crankshaft driven pump and steam injector.

As with all our sales she will come ready to rally with firing irons, oil, coal and a days tuition. We are happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles in part exchange.
