3" Foden J-Type

On behalf of the owners we are pleased to offer for sale this very nicely built and finished 3" Foden J-Type articulated lorry. Having been recently overhauled and finished in the handsome blue livery the engine has been steam a handful of times and ready for steam testing which we are happy to arrange if necessary.

Originally completed in 2007 the paperwork shows the engine to have only been steam tested for 2 years, its mechanical condition confirms the engine has seen very little use since completion. The dummy load on the trailer houses a large plastic water tank which is ready to be piped into the engine if so required.

The copper boiler is commercially built by G.B. Boiler services of Warwickshire and comes with the original paperwork and test certificate from them as well as model club test certificates from 2007 and 2008. The engine is now ready to boiler test which we are happy to undertake and this is included in the asking price, should the new owner wish to undertake the testing themselves with their local club then we are can discount the asking price accordingly. Water feed is through a crank driven pump and steam injector. Somewhat unusually for a copper boiler of this size it is rated at 140psi providing a fair bit more power and efficiency than the normal 100 psi copper boilers we see.
