We are pleased to offer for sale this mightily impressive 6" McLaren road locomotive. An imposing and powerful engine, the half size Mac is regarded by many as the ultimate miniature steam engine and just per the full size proto-types is notably bigger and heavier built than the equivalent offerings from Burrell and Fowler.
Built in 2008 by Great Northern Steam in Darlington it remains in excellent condition, looking at it you would think it is only a couple of years old. To prevent any confusion this is a UK built engine with a UK made boiler and not a recent one built in India by Dream Machines. It was originally supplied to an older gentleman who steamed it a handful of times during his ownership and it was only when purchased a couple of years ago by the previous owners it started to have more regular steaming's. The engine is now well-proven and settled in nicely.
Driving the engine is a real pleasure, despite having more power on tap than you will ever sensibly need it can be quite a gentle beast and one you quickly get comfortable with. Steaming wise, being a big boiler it is easy to fire and maintain pressure, the damper fits well and controls the fire nicely.
The boiler will be undergoing a full 10 year examination and hydraulic with an independent boiler inspector so will come fully ticketed and ready to rally. It is water fed by a crank driven water pump and reliable steam injector.
The "Mac" comes complete with all the normal ancillaries, firing tools, coal, oil, tube brush and a days tuition included. Where required we are happy to help with delivery and finance can be arranged by our specialist partner.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
