We are pleased to offer for sale this mightily impressive 6" McLaren road locomotive. An imposing and powerful engine, the half size Mac is regarded by many as the ultimate miniature steam engine and just per the full size proto-types is notably bigger and heavier built than the equivalent offerings from Burrell and Fowler.

Built in 2008 by Great Northern Steam in Darlington it remains in excellent condition, looking at it you would think it is only a couple of years old. To prevent any confusion this is a UK built engine with a UK made boiler and not a recent one built in India by Dream Machines. It was originally supplied to an older gentleman who steamed it a handful of times during his ownership and it was only when purchased a couple of years ago by the current owners it started to have more regular steaming's. The engine is now well-proven and settled in nicely, it is well-known across the water on the Dutch rally scene.

The engine resides in the Netherlands but will be coming to England shortly. On arrival it will have a full hydraulic and steam test by an independent boiler inspector and we will help the new owner with the road registration process so it will be ready to rally in the UK. If a European buyer in interested then there is of course the option for the engine to remain in the Netherlands and be collected from there. It is worth noting we have seen the engine ourselves and happy to vouch for its condition.

The Mac comes complete with all the normal ancillaries, firing tools, coal, oil, tube brush and a days tuition included. Where required we are happy to help with delivery and finance can be arranged by our specialist partner.

For further information or to arrange a viewing please do not hesitate to contact us.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
