Without doubt the most well kept engines we have seen, the owner has kept everything in top-top, spotlessly clean condition and it is a true credit to them. It has come to us a complete ready-to-rally outfit including a twin axle box trailer full of engine and rallying accessories which we will detail below.
Starting with the Burrell, it is as you can see on the pictures not only very beautifully presented but a very well made engine. It was professionally completed in 2012 and received a repaint in late 2023. It steams freely, with a well fitted damper which controls the fire nicely, trundling around the yard for the afternoon she was a pleasure to steam and a very easy engine to get along with. The boiler was built by John Rex and is water fed through a crankshaft driven pump and hand operated pump, an injector is fitted but we have been told is has always been somewhat troublesome hence the hand pump, we will have a little look a this to see if we can get it working. The boiler has been commercially inspected for many years and is reported to be in good condition with healthy plate thicknesses throughout. If required we are happy to put a fresh steam ticket on the engine before sale.
The sturdy riding trailer is as you would expect from the quality of the engine, a well made and thought out bit of kit. Underneath the wooden seat is a large water tank, this feeds through to the engine by the yellow hose which is on a quick release connector to the water lifter (you don't need to use the water lifter to fill the engine tender)
Also included with the engine is a sturdy trolley which works really well in the workshop, it brings the engine up a few inches making it easier height to work on but also easier for moving around into tight spots. The large bar over the top is for security, brackets mount to the wall and floor and this bar goes over the engine and padlocked in.
The 10' x 5' twin axle transport trailer is made by Humbaur (think German Ifor Williams) and was fitted with 4 brand new tyres last year. A great addition is the motor mover which allows for easy manoeuvring even when fully loaded, ideal for storage in tight spots or for those who haven't mastered reversing trailers yet! The rear door is a ramp and inside a 12 volt winch with batteries and racking for all the normal paraphernalia. Part of this racking is the solid securing system for the engine. Up on some brackets at the side is a pop-up gala tent.
The engine and riding trailer are available without the transport trailer for £20,000.
This is the most complete and well-sorted rally outfit we have had in, for someone looking to hook up and drive straight to a rally you literally have everything there ready to go.
Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
